"This meeting of the Swingin’ Soiree is now in session!" That’s how Murray The K opened his shows on WOR-FM, New York’s first commercial rock station. It’s the Summer Of Love, and Jimi Hendrix is Murray's in-studio guest, but unfortunately, we don’t have that portion of the program. What we do have is Murray’s first hour that night, with a mix of album tracks and hits, and classic spots for long-lost places like The Electric Circus.

It’s the summer of 1963, and Terry Knight is one of the top radio personalities in Detroit on WJBK. Knight would later be known as the frontman for Terry Knight & The Pack, who had a minor hit in 1966 with “I Who Have Nothing”. But he is probably best remembered as the man who guided the career of Grand Funk Railroad.
