This hour of music is dedicated to FAME studios. FAME studios was founded in 1959 by Rick Hall in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Hall offered a safe haven where blacks and whites could work together in musical harmony, despite the fact that racism was rampant in the area at that time. FAME Studios became the starting point for the musical careers of the Rolling Stones, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin and many others. The studio, owned by Hall until his death in 2018, is still actively operating.

"Here is Lux and Ivy’s Favorites Volume 8 (remaster). The 3rd of the recently restarted remaster process for this series. Only Volumes 9, 10, and 11 are left before volume 18 will appear! Starting with Volume 12, the volumes had covers from that point forward, so I don’t think I will go back over those and just let them stand as is.

Originally, this volume had songs that were not titled as they were taken from the full version of Forbidden City Dog Food, which had yet to be bootlegged at this point.  At some point I identified the songs, and titled them, but didn’t find higher quality versions of the songs.

Not much else to say about this volume, the cover was taken from the LP by The Tides since their Midnight Limbo appears on this volume. Cover Idea by myself, layout by the great and amazing Adam Fitch"

Roby Yonge, while on vacation from WABC, returns to WQAM (his Miami alma mater) for one night only. Throwing out the format, he takes over the overnight show and tells some great stories while playing his favorite hits. This was originally a scoped aircheck. I've restored the music so you can hear this exactly as it was in March, 1969.
