Does this special contain the annoying "INTOXICA" announcements that step on random parts of songs throughout the show? Talk about missing the post by a country mile!

a hell of a lot of people really like that mister CRITIC!!! For some edumacation, click on some of the many classic airchecks to hear real DJs blabbing on, answering songs, putting sound effects & station IDs all over the place...listen to a MAD MIKE aircheck & hear all kinds of lunacy & laughing over records...the post you're missing is firmly planted where the sun don''t shine, CRITIC!

We LOVE Intoxica !!! This is the rockinest rollinest DJ there is ! Obscure ditties, rompin stompin tunes, hilarious banner & a huge fan following !! More Intoxica please !!!

The REALLY COOL thing about this show is just that.....hearing INTOXICA announced throughout the show!!! I mean, haven't you heard 'real' radio?!?!!? Did you grow up listening to JAZZ or some lame 'easy listening' station or what!?!?!? Howie, please don't ever stop the banter during, before and after the songs.....it's part of what makes INTOXICA such a COOL listening experience!!!

I always thought the station IDs during songs on the radio was to prevent people from stealing it and broadcasting it elsewhere. And if I spent my entire life collecting some of the strangest, rarest, greasiest musical gems ever pressed, I'd have my ID all over them suckers, too. And if you're also pissed about Howie's commentary during the songs, then you're WAY too serious about bacon fat, cooties, burps, gub'ment cheese and other sordid songs Howie spins, cuz his input typically enhances my listening experience, hence my being insanely addicted to his show (with emphasis on "insanely"). The whole affair is like a crazy party with tremendous music.

Stay sick--and silly.

you got good taste - it's rock'n'roll for weird ohs said...

Mr critic I think your musical tastes might be better served by taking an elevator up to the top of the tallest building whilst enjoying the MUZAK.
Intoxica is not for squaresville. Keep it weird 'n'wild Howie.

I used to work for both commercial and college radio stations that required station ID to be played several times every hour. Pretty much what Ava said. It is branding and it something all legit radio stations do.

The banter, sound effects and announcements all make Intoxica the amazing show it is, not to mention the music that none of us would even know about it was not shared with us on the show. Just one of a million reasons why Intoxica has so many hardcore fans and followers...don't change a thing Howie!

Sounds like someone is envious of Intoxica and all it's greatness. Most of Intoxica's rarities and oddities are sounds you won't hear anywhere else, unless you search for these records yourself. No one is forcing anyone to listen and the show is free for everyone to enjoy.

I agree with Ava as well... The only reason someone would be annoyed by station ID is that they were trying to recycle/steal the music for their own "amateur radio" show.

Too much of the Intoxica drop and banter by the DJ??? I mean really, talk about nitpicking! Of all the things to complain about...we' re slipping into Fascism in America but I don't want to hear "Intoxica" played over The Turtle.

Mr. Pyro, I'm going to have to agree with Mr. Cad Coal on the grounds that this morning I fell off of my toilet and bumped my head. Now I only like very bland, boring, unoriginal things. INTOXICA is far too fun and stimulating for my squishy, beat up brain.

Poor Mr.Coal ("INTOXICA!") still clinging to the shopworn hippie orthodoxy that radio has rules and guidelines that should never, ever be violated ("INTOXICA!"), that nothing existed before the album-oriented snoozefest of the late 60s ("INTOXICA!!"), that branding your program with your own exuberant personality and showing genuine enthusiasm is like, you know man, not groovy ("INTOXICA!").

Pyro's show is like no other but its roots reference the great personality jocks that once made radio so damn much fun("INTOXICA"). It ain't for L-7s, or the bean sprout brigade-- its for Intoxitards who appreciate something more CREATIVE and IMAGINATIVE than the tedium of needle drop.

In closing, I'd like to say this--INTOXICA!

Cheers,

Ronn Spencer

Dear Cad Cole,

There is nothing in the world I would change about Intoxica, apart from the fact that I would prefer not to have to get up at 5 am to listen to it. ('Intoxica!)But I will continue to do it anyway because life is too short to listen to today's dreary excuse for music. Or to tedium filled reruns of music I have already been listening to for the last 40 years. ('Intoxica!) And for that matter, I find Howie's show to be THE most exciting radio I have ever heard having lived in 4 countries. ('Intoxica!)
So using the politess way of saying something rude, go forth and procreate!

('Intoxica!)

Cheers

Wow. Impressive show of support! Don't F with Howie!

There's nothing broken here and nothing needs fixing!

The INTOXICA! airchecks are as much a part of the show as the banter between numbers and the throw-outs from garage-rock and monster-rock celebrities paying homage to the man who's putting it all together.

If you dislike the program don't listen - its as easy as that -- and the INTOXICA! branding is part of the show.

wow!!! thanks for the love everyone...means the world to me...someone just pointed out & this is sooo funny & the clincher of this little episode...that if you click on "the critic's" name, a page comes up with the incredible title:
"University of Akron AMATEUR Radio Club"
woah! how great is that...speaks volumes! now i really love this...the absurdity bowls me over...but the closemindedness is really saddening to me...well...this is America...do what thou wilt...INTOXICA!!!

Cad Coal, why the sour grapes? This show has everything a rabid music/movie degenerate could ever hope for! Amazing and rare rock and roll 45's, insane movie clips and demented yet informative chatter from the host, Howie! I'm a fan to of Intoxica to da end!!

Perhaps Tad Dull would be better served spending his Tuesdays listening to, say, one of the fine fine FM radio stations playing their usual "Two-Fer Tuesday" specials ... I understand lots of Zeppelin is scheduled. As for me, it's not radio without INTOXICA and not only do I LOOOOVE the little "annoying 'INTOXICA' announcements that step on random parts of songs throughout the show," I am going to get them as a ringtone for my phone. Judging by the other comments here, it looks like the only one who missed the post by a country mile is you, so ... hey, enjoy your Zeppelin two-fers.
