He stole "The Emprorer" bit from Emporer Bob Hudson, in Los Angeles. He admired Bob. When RDS got hired in L.A., he dropped "emporer" & became The Real Don Steele. He was the antithysis of The Boss Jock. Raised in L.A.. Died there. His voice & antics go on forever...
Screamin' Steve Stevens: And a big shout out to Vince Lombardi High... Boy In Crowd: TOGAR EATS IT!
Screamin' Steve Stevens: Well, that about wraps it up at Rock & Roll High. Remember, if your principal gives you trouble, and you want this [pointing to the burning school building behind him]
Screamin' Steve Stevens: to happen at your school, you just give ol' Screamin' Steve a call. I'm in the book - under SCARRRREAMIN'!
It was a privilege to be a young radio nut in L.A. in the mid-60s and get to listen to Don Steele after school everyday. I never got the impression he cared much for the music, but his energy and wit were unflagging. Thanks for this early aircheck!
Was shocked upon seeing his face on a billboard and hearing his voice in Gremlins! It had been so long since I'd seen it (read: not even a teen), that I didn't even realize he was in it til now.

If only I'd had radio like this when I lived near Portland! When I was there it had to have been the worst radio market I've ever run into.
Kinda looks like DeNiro, if he were a friggin' sissy. Actually, he'd never look like one, not even in a movie. Shit, I hope he doesn't read this...
