Surely, this is the most profoundly disturbing publicity photo ever taken to promote a Humphrey Bogart movie. I have, understandably, been forbidden to hang this unsettling picture on the wall in my house.

Bogie was a real New Yawker, born in the UES, a descendant - they say - of the early dutch settlers. "They" also say that Bogart Street in Bushwick is named after one of his ancestors. Also, he could drink you under the table without blinking. Here's looking at you, kid.
